Who We Are
Famnest, Inc. is building one of America's fastest-growing family apps, with a mission to make everyday family life simpler, more connected, and easier to manage.
We are a small, dedicated, product-focused startup team. Product, users, communication, growth, and company building all happen close together.
We created this educational placement for students who want to understand what building an early-stage company actually looks like from close range.
About The Educational Placement
This is a structured, school-supported educational placement running for a fixed two-month period beginning August 31, 2026.
The remaining placement has a learning focus on marketing, social media, communication, consumer products, and startup company building.
Your time with Famnest will primarily be spent learning through observation, structured instruction, supervised exercises, feedback sessions, and exposure to the real decisions involved in building an early-stage company.
Because Famnest is a small startup, you will be able to observe much more than one narrow function. You may sit in on appropriate product discussions, learn how founders think about users and positioning, observe how feedback influences decisions, and see how product and communication connect.
Learn By Being Close To The Process
If you have ever wondered what it is actually like to build a company, this placement is intended to let you learn from that process firsthand.
You will work closely with the founders as a student participant and receive context around why decisions are made, not simply instructions about what to do.
On the social media and communication side, we do not expect you to arrive as an expert. The purpose is to teach, experiment, discuss, practice, and give you meaningful feedback.
You will be able to explore communication concepts through supervised learning exercises such as developing sample briefs, reviewing content strategies, practicing short-form storytelling, studying audience positioning, and discussing why different creative approaches work.
What You Can Learn
The placement is designed around skills and knowledge that can transfer to startups, technology companies, consumer brands, and other organizations.
Learning areas may include:
- How an early-stage consumer startup operates day to day.
- How founders approach product decisions, users, positioning, communication, and growth.
- How a consumer company develops its brand voice and communication strategy.
- Principles of short-form content, storytelling, scripting, filming, and creative development.
- How different audiences respond to different forms of communication.
- How teams evaluate creative concepts and learn from audience response.
- How customer feedback can inform both product and communication decisions.
- How early-stage teams make decisions with limited time and resources.
- How product, marketing, business, and growth functions interact inside a startup.
- How to become more confident communicating ideas and presenting on camera.
What The Placement Looks Like
Rather than taking responsibility for a business function, you will participate in a structured learning program.
- Shadow founders and team members during appropriate product, marketing, and company-building discussions.
- Participate in supervised social media and communication workshops.
- Work through sample briefs and learning exercises designed to develop transferable marketing and communication skills.
- Practice scripting, filming, presenting, and short-form storytelling with guidance and feedback.
- Review examples from consumer brands and discuss why particular communication approaches may or may not work.
- Participate in regular learning reviews with the founders and discuss your progress against agreed educational objectives.
- Observe how an early-stage team evaluates product ideas, customer feedback, priorities, and trade-offs.
Social Media As A Learning Focus
Social media will be one of the primary subjects of the placement, but the focus is education rather than giving you ownership of Famnest's channels.
You may practice developing concepts, scripts, sample videos, messaging ideas, and creative approaches as supervised educational exercises.
The aim is to help you understand how social communication works across consumer companies generally, rather than train you only to perform a specific role at Famnest.
There is no requirement that practice work created during the placement be published, and Famnest's day-to-day operations will not rely on those exercises.
Experience An Early-Stage Company From The Inside
One of the most valuable parts of this placement is exposure to the wider company-building process.
You will learn alongside a small startup team and get exposure to conversations and decisions that can be difficult to see from outside a company.
You will have opportunities to ask founders why a product decision was made, how a customer problem is evaluated, how priorities change, how a company communicates its product, and what happens when an idea does not work.
If you have ever wanted to understand what it feels like to be around a founding-stage company while it is being built, this placement is designed to give you that perspective in a structured educational setting.
Founder Mentorship & Duty Of Care
We take our responsibility to student participants seriously.
You will not be left to your own devices or expected to figure things out without support.
The placement includes ongoing founder supervision, explanation, feedback, and regular check-ins.
At the beginning of the placement, we will establish learning objectives together with you and, where appropriate, your school or academic supervisor.
Throughout the program, we will review what you have learned, answer questions, provide feedback on exercises, and make sure the experience continues to serve those educational objectives.
